Description:Michael Schaplowsky, ND completed two Bachelor of Science degrees at the University of Alberta. Dr. Schaplowsky's first B.Sc. was in the Faculty of Science in Biological Sciences with a strong focus in genetics. His second B.Sc. was in the Faculty of Medicine and focused on Medical Laboratory Studies. During this time he did a one year internship at the University of Alberta Hospitals. He earned his Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from the oldest and most well respected college in North America - National College of Natural Medicine. In addition, Dr. Schaplowsky also earned a B.Ed. at the University of Alberta and has studied theology at the University of Toronto, St. Michael's College and Newman Theological College. He has worked for The University of Alberta Hospitals, The Royal Alexandra Hospital, as a medical laboratory scientist and at The Cross Cancer Institute and The Tom Baker Cancer Centre as a clinical analyst. In addition, he has worked in scientific research at the University of Alberta. Dr. Schaplowsky's extensive studies and practice in medicine, science and theology gives him a unique insight into addressing a patient's needs. As an Orthodox priest he is willing to explore and integrate many of those areas where others shy away. Dr. Schaplowsky treats the whole body, mind and spirit, not just particular symptoms. His treatment plans generally include a combination of natural medicines and specific lifestyle changes designed to bring balance to every system of the body.
